Alcohol and texting; sadly these are two of the leading causes of teenage car accidents.
If you are a parent of a teen, a teacher, a grandparent, an uncle, aunt, neighbor or friend of a teenager, please read and participate! Your safety and security is our business, and that includes your teenagers.
The Drive-N-Live EVENT will demonstrate the dangers of driving while under the influence of alcohol and technology. Participants will wear “drunk” goggles while driving go-karts on an obstacle course set up on the track at Fun Warehouse. They will also attempt to send a text while maneuvering the obstacle course, hear from speakers and more.
As parents of three teenagers, we at Strand Security are proud to sponsor this event in Myrtle Beach!
Check out these drunk goggles. You’d be surprised how off balance you are when wearing these.
This FREE event takes place on March 20, 2019, at the Fun Warehouse which is located on Dick Pond Road in Myrtle Beach. it starts at 5:30 PM.
To sign up, register on or before March 18 by clicking here bit.ly/DriveNLive
The event is FREE to the public.
This event has been put together with the help of the following local groups and businesses.
This program is for anyone age 13 and up, however, a parent MUST be present for participants between the ages of 13-17 years old.
It will be a highly educational and hands-on program and will help in preventing casualties.
Glad you asked!
We happen to have a SNEAK-PEEK of the event as we were invited to the media day on March 13!
Heather of Strand Security got to take two rides in the Go Karts:
First, she was asked to drive the course wearing Drunk Goggles.
On her second turn, she was asked to try to text while driving her Go Kart.
Needless to say, both were impossible to do without hitting cones.
Bring your teenagers and together you can take the pledge to not drink and drive, or text and drive.
This program was started in 2014 by retired Police Officer Cruz.
To learn more about the event from Mr. Cruz; watch this video we shot at the media day.

Let’s talk parent to parent for a minute.
Parenting isn’t easy, is it?
When your babies are babies, you worry about their development, health and food.
When they grow more and become school-aged kids, you worry about academics, friends and outside influences.
When they become teens, you worry about dating, high school, sex and …driving!
Beyond being a rite of passage, it’s a must-have for every teen; that coveted driver’s license and that car…!
The statistics on teens and driving are a bit scary, though so we went looking for the facts on teens and driving.
We found this helpful website with lots of statistics and helpful ways to educate yourself and your teen on the dangers and distractions while driving.
✓ Teens behind the wheel and their peer passengers account for one in every five deaths to 15 to 19-year-olds in the U.S.
✓ Motor vehicle crashes kill nearly five times as many teens as cancer or poisoning.
✓ Most teen crashes are not caused by aggressive driving or thrill-seeking. Instead, they are more often caused by errors associated with inexperience, such as poor speed management, inadequate scanning, and distractions from something inside or outside of the vehicle.
So how can you protect your teen and how can you help prevent accidents from happening in the first place?
