There are so many bells, whistles, brands, companies, options to choose from!
Help is on the way!
We have identified five important markers for you to check to find the best home security system for your home and family.
That is exactly what you need to start with:
identify your personal needs, goals and wants in a home security system in order to find the best home security system available to you
Here are the five questions you need to ask yourself!
Grab a piece of paper and start writing down answers, then give us a call!
What type of system you need, and want, depends on your home; the size, layout, and location.
Here are some factors to consider.
Next, let’s talk money!
As we can’t look in your pocketbook, or checkbook for that matter. Therefore, you should find a price point you are happy with before contacting a security company. It will help them, and you, decide on what you can afford at this time. If your financial situation changes, you can add additional features and services! If you have to go ‘bare-bones’ to start with, go for it, but make sure to make that a clear objective when searching for the best home security system.
Next, let’s talk functionality!
Not everyone likes bells and whistles. Not everyone needs or wants all the latest technology or the highest ranked equipment. It is important, however, that your system performs the tasks you need it to perform!
Answer these questions.
Once you have an idea about functionality, it’s time to talk integration.
If you bought a new home with security system equipment installed, your (new) provider needs to know what system and what equipment is currently in your home. Sometimes this equipment can be reused or repurposed; this will depend on what brands your provider works with and the age of the system and equipment. If you already own home automation hardware and software and you want to integrate a new security system with it, your security provider needs to know this as well. It is important to make a list of all technology in your home.
There is a difference between what your intended usage is and what your family’s needs are. Talking to your security provider is a great place to start. Tell them who lives in your home, who might need access to your system, whether you travel, if you also own a business which needs security and more.
Answering these questions after having answered the four previous questions will help your provider give you options for the best home security system for your current home.
We welcome any and all inquiries about security systems. We are here to help protect those you love.

Keeping baby safe inside the home is great, but what about dangers coming in from outside?
A home invasion is a very traumatic experience, whether you have a new baby, or not.
There is never a guarantee that a break-in or home evasion won’t happen to you and yours, yet there are many ways to deter a criminal. Then if you have a monitored security alarm system, you have the added knowledge that when help is ever needed, help is on the way with the push of one button, or with one tripped wire, or with one smoke alarm going off.
We welcome your thoughts, questions and feedback!
Many construction sites deal with the same two crimes:
✓ Theft (of tools, equipment and materials)
The Grand Strand/Myrtle Beach area is undergoing a huge surge in new construction of homes and businesses and thus there are many new construction sites popping up. Each site deals with theft and vandalism, and we do get calls and inquiries about how to prevent crime from happening.
As much as the advice is
‘Don’t leave anything of value at your construction site unattended’
that advice, in reality, isn’t very practical.
What is realistic, is that sometimes you need to leave materials, equipment and large tools at the site. The good news?
There are ways to protect these items.
Here are some ideas on how to get started.
As always, preventing crime is a much better option that reporting crime and having to replace tools, equipment or materials. The time it takes to set up and secure your site is nothing compared to the time it would take to replace stolen tools, equipment or materials or have to fix an act of vandalism.
We highly encourage you to talk to your security specialist before it is too late!
When you are out and about and you see cameras at the following commercial locations
do you feel an immediate sense of safety and security?
Sure you do!
Most of these establishments have REAL cameras and are recording your activities, some are even monitoring your activities in real-time.
Would it make a difference to you and how you’d feel if you knew any number of these cameras were fake? Would you be able to detect if any of these cameras were fake? Would you avoid those commercial locations if you knew there were no real cameras recording your every move?
In retail stores, gas stations , car dealerships, restaurants and gyms, often cameras are used to prevent theft, as well as to protect their employees.
In schools and banks, often these cameras are used to keep employees and customers safe from harm first and foremost, and of course also help deter crime such as theft.
At home, home owners who have cameras report feeling a higher level of security then those without, especially if the cameras are connected to the monitoring system and the camera feed is accessible from a remote location.
If a burglar detects cameras while casing a home, s/he most likely will stake out a different home.
However, if this crime is to be a crime of opportunity (as in; they see you leave, or they know you are on vacation, or at work), most often the criminal does not care whether you have any cameras, as it will be a quick come and go.
With cameras installed and visible, you are deterring potential burglars, but not deterring professional criminals.
So what about just adding fake security cameras strategically places on the outside of your home?
Will fake security cameras prevent crime?
The answer is YES and BUT.
YES, fake security cameras will prevent some crime BUT there are a few important things fake security cameras can not do for you!
So fake cameras are just that, fake. A professional burglar can and will detect the cameras and identify them as fake quickly. Even those with the blinking red lights and those that move – or should we say, especially those with blinking red lights and those that move, randomly?
Once these fake cameras have been identified as fake, a burglar will continue their plan to break in with more confidence.
If a crime does take place, real security cameras can provide the police with a solid description of the criminals by the recordings. For obvious reasons, fake cameras will have no such footage and thus will yield no description of any criminal.
Real security cameras connected to your monitored alarm system can provide real-time updates on an on-going crime and then alert those who are monitoring your system to call for help an back up, in real time and with detail! Using your security camera feeds, the company can spot the number of assailants in the home as well as the weapons they carry and where they are located in the home. This information can be relayed to the police to aid in apprehending the suspects and keep you and your family alive.
To sum it all up, fake security cameras give a false, or fake, sense of security.
Fake security cameras do not prevent crime.
Fake security cameras might deter a fraction of potential crimes, but will be of no use in a dangerous situation.

You might know an elderly person with a personal panic button.
Don’t we all remember the first commercial (1987) with that famous line:
“I have fallen and I can’t get up”
Personal panic buttons are wonderful and enable our seniors and disabled citizen to live a more independent life then they would without.
However, panic buttons are not just for personal use (or for banks). Regular businesses could and should consider installing panic buttons in their place of business. Not convinced? Let us show you the ways…
A Panic Button is Cost Effective for your Business
What does this mean? Many businesses spent lots of money on safety and security of their goods, but not on the safety and security of their employees. However, if an employee gets hurt on the job, or worse, cost skyrockets. Getting a quick response time during emergencies can help save a life. A panic button at your place of business can summon help quickly when 9-1-1 can not be called from a phone.
A Panic Button Protects If the Threat Comes from Within
Businesses put up barriers like gates, buzz-in systems and steel doors to prevent criminals from entering their building. Businesses add security cameras and security systems to further deter criminals from stealing, loitering and attacking. However, what happens if the threat comes from within the business? From someone who is already inside the business, maybe a coworker or trusted delivery person? While current events show us that no one is safe from harm, no matter where you live and where you go in public (a concert, a bank, a school or a movie theater), a panic button can help those who are in a dire situation quickly!
A Panic Button Promotes Workplace Safety
When your company deals with the public, and customers come into your place of business for a service or a product, and you have a slew of ‘random strangers’ coming through your door like it is a revolving door, it is imperative that you protect your employees as well as your customers from potential danger. A panic button near the cash register, or strategically placed around the workplace, or even on your manager or person-in-charge will allow a call for help within seconds of an emergency. Often it is seconds, not minutes that can make the difference between life and death. Employees who feel save at work perform better.
Do you own a business on the Grand Strand, in the Myrtle Beach area? We would love to come talk to you about installing panic buttons in your place of business. From our own personal experience, we know how important this back up is.
Stop. Wonder no more! Research no more!
You’ve found it! The answer to many of your questions and the place to ask more questions. We are right here in the Myrtle Beach area. We are local and we have the answers to your security questions!
For your convenience, we have compiled a list of 5 reasons you might have never thought of! These are 5 reasons you do NOT need a security system! How cool is that?
We know that many (new) home owners struggle with this issue – to install or not to install and we decided to make this easy on you. Just check off any of the reasons and if even just one applies, don’t get an alarm system for you home or business.
Everything you own can be replaced, including your antiques and heirlooms. It doesn’t matter how much you’ve worked for it, or how much money you spent on it, or who gave it to you – you are perfectly willing to part with any and all items in your home. Whether you lose them because of a home invasion, a burglary or a fire, you are good!
You don’t mind dealing with your home owners insurance to try to replace stolen valuables and broken windows, locks and doors. You don’t mind having to pay your deductible out-of-pocket and you honestly don’t mind spending hours arguing with your insurance over claims.
You have a concealed weapon’s permit and you carry your weapon on you at all times, wherever you go, even in your home. You carry it on you and even when you sleep it’s on your person. You have it loaded – ready to use even in the dark of night. You don’t need a security alarm to sound if an intruder where to enter your home. You sleep on one ear for the very reason!
You trust every single employee you hire right from day one; you trust them with merchandise, your customers and your money. Without training your staff, you just know they will do right by you and your company. You also know they would never (unintentionally) leave a door or window unlocked when they lock up for the night because you know they care as much about your business as you do!
You are home every night of every week of every year and you just never leave your home unattended at night. Why would you ever leave? You work from home so your home is never unattended. How cool is that? Grocery trips and shopping trips to the mall are short and sweet because you know, your home needs you!
All craziness set aside…
You need a security system if you value your home, your business and your family!
Security systems do more than ‘alert you’ when your system is breached!
✓ Call for emergency services when you are incapacitated
✓ Alert the home owner when not home
✓ Alert the business owner when not at work
✓ Allow you to monitor your property via your smartphone
✓ Can turn your home into a Smart Home

It could be that no one is watching your home right now.

Only a few more weeks and the Christmas holiday is here! Even though not everyone can take two full weeks off from work, many people get at least a few days or a week off to spend time with their families over Christmas break.
Whether you spend Christmas at home and travel later, go ‘on location’ to a warm climate, take the family on a ski trip or spend Christmas day at ‘the happiest place on earth’, reality is that when you aren’t home, someone is sure to be looking at your property!
We’ve covered this subject before, several times, yet when we watch the news, we feel so bad for those affected by break-ins, fires and other home disasters.
What can you do?
You can take preventative measures to do everything in your power to prevent and deter criminals before they decide to enter your home and you can prep your home to prevent leaks, fire and other home disasters!
Here is a list to help you get started!
Now doing all of these things on this list can not completely prevent crime or home disasters like fires, floods or wind damage, but the thing is, if you have a monitoring service and cameras, at least you’d be alerted the minute something were to be happening in your home.
For example, in one of our local Myrtle Beach neighborhoods there was an unattended home during the ice storms of 2015. After the ice melted, water was seen gushing out of the house from under the garage door. Clearly, a pipe or water heater had broken (most likely a pipe as the water kept running and running) and neighbors tried – in vain – to reach the home owners who, as it turns out, were out of the country. We can only imagine the damage that was done to that home with water gushing out for days!
A simple conversation with a friendly neighbor would not have prevented the disaster but would have notified the owner and stopped it much quicker.
If you travel often and need a security system, come talk with us!
We get this question often, both here in Myrtle Beach and in Maryland. People just like you want to know if they can afford to have a security system installed. Our answer is
If you want a security system for your home or business, we can help make it happen!
The first step is always taken by the customer – you as the customer have to understand the value of a security system. Once you understand how a security system can protect your family, how it can help you save money in your business and how it helps deter and prevent crime from happening in the first place, you can come talk with us, the experts on security systems!
Many Americans have some sort of disposable income. A disposable income is
“income remaining after deduction of taxes and other mandatory charges, available to be spent or saved as one wishes.”
How are you spending your disposable income? Are you keeping track of the movie tickets you buy, the Mocha Lattes you purchase and drink, the new jean you bought, those candles you loved and purchased for your home…
Do you have a general idea where you are spending the majority of your disposable income?
Take a look at this #infographic to see if you can find ways to come up with a bit of extra cash each month.
We’ve identified 5 places where you could possible save a bit of money to pay for an alarm system if that’s what you are determined to do – and we sure hope you see the value in a home security system like we do!
Instead of stopping at those expensive gourmet coffee places on your way to work and purchasing a Mocha Latte, buy a pound of coffee and brew your own! You can save big money doing this consistently – enough to pay your monthly monitoring bill!
The average bill for eating out is $12.17 p/p per meal! Stay in one night per month instead of going out to eat as a family of four and you’ve more than covered your security system bill!
A bottle of wine or a case of beer; whatever you are drinking isn’t cheap! Cut back a bit each week and by the end of the month you’ll have the money you need to keep your family safe!
This is where you can save big money! Cutting back certainly will do the trick but quitting will not only give you enough money to install a security system, you’ll be able to afford the best system money can buy including cameras, and still have money left over!
Most of us set a budget for ourselves when we go out to ‘shop’. Whether that budget is for clothes, food or fun, we bet there is plenty of wiggle room. Think about the things you want but don’t need and replace some of the ‘wants’ with ‘I need a security system to keep my family safe’ and this should be an easy choice!
The way we see it is this; when disaster strikes it is (almost) too late! Why wait to protect what you love most?
Give Chuck a call today at 843-318-6392!
It is most likely you will know the answer to that question.
Many of us know before we move in if the neighborhood we are moving to is a relatively safe one, or not. However, some of us might have bought a home in a neighborhood a long time ago and this neighborhood was known as a safe neighborhood yet as time went by, this changed! Some neighborhoods took a dive after the last big recession in 2008 and never recovered. Other neighborhoods are simply overrun by gangs and the violence gangs bring with them.
In the Myrtle Beach area and on the Grand Strand, certain areas, towns and neighborhoods definitely have a higher crime rate than others.
But don’t be fooled by the word ‘safe’; even the ‘safest neighborhood‘ isn’t immune to crime!
Crime happens everywhere.
Crime happens everywhere and you can’t always prevent it.
Yet sometimes you can prevent crime from happening or reduce the overall crime rate in your community and that’s what we’ll be talking about in this article.
Today we’ll be giving you just three ways to start because you have to start somewhere, right?
Every single action you as an individual make, will have a ripple effect on your neighbors and so on. One person needs to start and many will follow. Small changes can make big impact.
Will you be the one who will take initiative?
What this means is that getting involved with (or starting) community events is step one, followed closely by step two; starting some sort of neighborhood watch, neighborhood patrol program or even a neighborhood advocacy group. Through activities, neighborhoods can (re)build social control and increase citizen accountability for the actions of residents and their children. Take advantage of “safety in numbers” to hold group activities to show you are determined to drive out crime and drugs.
Work together to keep playgrounds, parks, yards, alleys, ball fields and streets clear of criminals. Do this by forming a task force to patrol these areas after dark and by reporting suspicious activity not only to police, but also to all citizens in your neighborhood; when the community is involved in watching out for each other, less crime happens. Signs that warn criminals of safety patrols and neighborhood watches help prevent some of these crime from taking place!
When vandalism happens report, report, report! You want the police involved because you want these crimes solved fast. You do not want repeat offenders, correct? The next step after reporting vandalism is to get together with your community, your neighbors and clean it up. Leaving it be just isn’t an option if you want it to stop. Reporting and cleaning up vandalism signals a few things to the criminals involved. First, that you have noticed the vandalism. Second; that you are serious about stopping it. Third; that you have pride in your neighborhood and vandalism isn’t going to stop it.
We have to mention, of course, that installing security cameras in public spaces is a huge step you can take in deterring criminals! Security cameras installed at ball fields, parks, playgrounds and on streets help solve crimes. As for your own home, a security system can do a lot for peace of mind! 24/7 monitoring will make you be and feel so much safer.
Let us know if we can help you come up with a plan for your neighborhood!
